WALTER READE SCARES UP THE CHANGELING FOR HALLOWEEN

Peter Medak's 1980 film THE CHANGELING is one of the scariest ghost stories ever filmed. It is a film that boasts one of the creepiest and moodiest scores ever written for a film of this nature, and was the first film to win Canada's Genie Award for Best Film (it reportedly won eight out of ten of its nominations).

George C. Scott gives a wonderfully understated performance in this story about a man who loses his wife and child in a freak accident and moves into a mansion by himself, only to discover that the ghost of a young child is trying to reach out to him.

The Walter Reade Theater in New York City is showing the film on Halloween at 9:00 pm, which is fitting since one of the film's many settings in just outside of Lincoln Center. The film is being screened with director Medak's own personal 35mm print. This is a rare opportunity to see a fine ghost story on film in a theater.
