DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK REMAKE
Guillermo del Toro reportedly is working on a feature remake of DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK, the 1973 cult TV-movie. Del Toro is will be co-scripting this version with screenwriter Matthew Robbins, the director of DRAGONSLAYER (1981). Robbins also wrote MIMIC for Del Toro. Troy Nixey, the director of the short film LATCHKEY'S LAMENT, is slated to direct the film. Currently available as a Japanese import DVD with the 1972 telefim GARGOYLES, DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK was directed by John Newland, and written by Nigel McKeand. The film starred Kim Darby as a woman trying to convince her husband that small creatures live in their home. Hopefully, the theatrical release will lead to a legitimate DVD release of the original.
