TAKE A TRIP WITH THE DESCENT 2

Any questions/rumors about the go-ahead for a sequel to Neil Marshall's frightening THE DESCENT can be put to rest as Fangoria reports that the first weeks of principal photography have been completed. Interestingly, the film brings back the cast from the original, almost all of whom were killed off. If you recall, a digital video recorder figured in the original, and it is in these "flashbacks" that the original cast will be seen again. Marshall was approached to direct the follow-up, but handed the reins over to his editor of THE DESCENT, Jon Harris.

The sequel picks up where horror fans wish the original left off - with Sarah making her way out of the cave. Police are baffled as to what happened to her, and force her to lead them into the cave to find her friends. There was concern among cast members that the integrity of the original, which many quite correctly compare to Ridley Scott's masterful ALIEN.

The sequel promises to be more gut-wrenching than it's brilliant predecessor and is due for a 2009 release.
