CLOVERFIELD STOMPS THE COMPETITION AND MAKES SOME VIEWERS ILL

Paramount Pictures has spent a lot of time and money promoting the new monster movie CLOVERFIELD and the incessant advertising appears to have paid off: the film had the largest opening of any film in the month of January ever, beating out the last record set by the release of the special edition of STAR WARS in January 1997 which was $36M. CLOVERFIELD won out with roughly an additional $5M. Modestly budgeted at about $30M, CLOVERFIELD tells the story of a group of friends who try to escape the clutches of a monster that has descended upon New York City. The action is told in a BLAIR WITCH PROJECT documentary style and has drawn controversy (read that as publicity) for its poster art that is unquestionably inspired by the destruction of the World Trade Center in 2001. The cast is made up primarily of a group of performers we've all seen but cannot place, including actor Chris Mulkey (who has been acting for well over 30 years) as Lt. Colonel Graff.

While the film may not benefit from the sort of online genius promotion that made THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT such a monster hit (no pun intended), the film has drawn parallels with Eduardo Sánchez and Daniel Myrick's indie hit by telling the action from the point of view of one of the character's video cameras and thereby giving the film an Eyewitness News-like feel to it. Unfortunately, the shaky camerawork has also resulted in some audience members feeling nauseous, yours truly included. I felt this way while watching the Al Pacino documentary LOOKING FOR RICHARD in 1996 and had to leave the theater prematurely. Looks like I'll have to wait for Netflix to get CLOVERFIELD for the same reason. :(

Revisited films you once loved but now seem to suck (Leatherhead)
There ar a few titles like this for me, but the one that comes to mind right now is Howling IV. This was the first of the Howling movies I ever saw, and I
have to say, I thouroughly enjoyed it. But every subsequent viewing has only
diminished the experience.

Halloween and Horror Classifieds (ghostman)
Does anyone know where to find Halloween and Horror classifieds to advertise shopping online, buy, sell, or trade, etc? Your help will be much appreciated! ;)

Dracula Fan (Lord Ruthven)
I would say that without a doubt the Hammer series is better. It's got two amazing actors, Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee where as Bela Lugosi is totally overrated as Dracula. Though iconic, his actual mannerisms in the movie are goofy. Not to mention that the universal movies are boring.

Dracula Fan (Lord Ruthven)
Yes really, but that does not include vampire movies. the character must be based on Bram Stokers character of dracula.
