BRYNIARSKI BACK AS LEATHERFACE

A few months ago, we told you about the new prequel to THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE that was to begin filming. We also reported that despite good notices from the horror community, Andrew Bryniarski was not going to be returning as Leatherface. I'm happy to say, it looks as if New Line has corrected this mistake.
Fangoria now reports that Bryniarski will return as Leatherface in the THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE BEGINNING. Their previous Leatherface was R.A. Mihailoff who previously played the role in the poorly recieved LEATHERFACE: THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE III.
Mihailoff told Fango that he has been let go from the project and that Bryniarski has been cast. Bryniarski's
official site confirms the news.
The reasons for Mihailoff's departure and Bryniarski's subsequent rehiring have not been disclosed. But horror fans were a tad upset when Andrew was not brought on for the prequel, since many deemed him a fine Leatherface. New Line previously endured a severe backlash when former Jason Vorhees, Kane Hodder was not hired onto the studio's JASON X and FREDDY VS. JASON.
Keep in mind this is a prequel to Marcus Nispel's TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE of 2003 and is a separate franchise from the one started by Tobe Hooper in 1974. The prequel will be directed by Jonathan Liebesman (DARKNESS FALLS) and will detail and earlier family running afould of Leatherface and his kin. R. Lee Ermey will also be returning with Jordana Brewster (THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS, D.E.B.S.) new to the cast.
THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE BEGINNING is slated for an October 2006 release.
