JIM SIEDOW 1920 - 2003

- "Look what your brother did to the door!"

- "I just can't take no pleasure in killing. There's just some things you gotta do. Don't mean you have to like it."

- And my favorite: "You have one choice, boy: sex or the saw! Sex is, well, nobody knows. But the saw, the saw is family!"

All these classic lines were uttered by actor Jim Siedow in the first two (and best) TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE films. Creature Corner reports that Siedow has passed away after a long illness. He was 83 years old.

Siedow only starred in a handful of movies between 1971 and 1986. Amazingly, he didn't do anything after THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE PART 2 except for documentries on the films. Still, his turn as Drayton Sawyer remains a classic staple of the genre and in his appearances, he gave fans entertainment that would last a lifetime.

In fact, Siedow had a brilliant theatre career which many of us, sadly may never see. Siedow had been active in the Theatre Suburbia in Houston, Texas for years. They will hold a memorial service for him sometime next month. Siedow's body will be donated to the Baylor College of Medicine.

The Wyoming native had been battling a "long-term illness," and according to the Corner, had just returned from the hospital the day before. He was with Ruth Siedow, his wife of 57 years when he passed.

Tobe Hooper, who directed Siedow in the CHAINSAW films had this to say: "We’ve lost a great artist and my heartfelt sympathies go to his family. He was an extraordinarily unique talent. Chameleon-like truly, and his Shakespearan work for the stage was truly fantastic... I'm at a loss for words. What people don't realize is that he was a wonderful comedian, a very funny and extremely kind man. Definitely the real deal."
