Judging from previous responses, there's a contingent of Horror Express users who enjoy the wackier end of 70s sexploitation so here's a peach. Beast in Space is what happens when Star Wars explodes Sci-Fi into the mainstream and smut peddlers with wild imaginations jump on the intergalactic bandwagon.

Hey Sam!

I've seen this movie a few months ago.... and, that was very saddened to hear that actress Sirpa Lane died from AIDS in 1995, I think.... Do you know more than I do?

Not really. Like many sexploitation stars, Sirpa Lane made only a handful of movies. Jess Franco's partner Lina Romay is unusual I think, in making such a long career from exploitation, but then I think she and Franco share a few manias that they've exorcised over a lifetime of erotic movie making. As for Miss Lane, she starred 8 or 9 movies and then drifted into obscurity. DVD has made cult stars of many of these grindhouse performers although I'm willing to bet that a fair few don't welcome the attention now they are mothers or even grandmothers.

Having said that, Sirpa Lane did leave behind a fairly joyful legacy on film. She may not of been an Oscar Winning Hollywood Siren but she starred in at least one highly respected work, Walerian Borowczyk's la bete (The Beast) and a couple of movies that just make me smile at the dated sexuality and shoestring budgets: Love Goddess of the Cannibals and Beast in Space.
