Default Eli Roth Dropped as a potental director for Steven Kings Cell

Reports are that Eli roth of the cabin fever and hostel one and two had been boasting for months that he was chosen to direct the book to screen film from steven king called Cell for those of you who don't know the book is about present day a signal goes out to every cell phone and if you answer it you first turn into a zombie and later mutants . Rumers are Stephen king didn't want Roth as director of possable the most violent book King has ever writen . No quotes from King as of yet but its said and heavly rumered that director frank Darabount that recently Directed Kings The Mist is heavly consedering it its been rumered that since King and Remero are close since creepshow he might urge the studios to let him direct eaither choice would be good i was very unpleased to hear Roth might direct this i loved hostel one and 2 but i dont think he would of made this right

Agree with you. Hostel was bouyed first and foremost by the concept, and I've not seen anything in Roth to suggest he's really much more than a huge fan of gore who's enthusiasm helped bring it back. That's no small feat, I realize, but I'd like to see a little more depth in horror. Gross out special effects need to be the garnishing, not the substance.

Like i said before cabin fever was a very good first Hostel 1 a very orignal concept dark but not as gory as most people make it out to be and hostel 2 was ok since im a fan of the first i didnt mind the second but to say he is that gory is a vast overstatement compared to Peter Jacksons Bad Taste and Dead Alive and films like Evil Dead One and two and George's
dead films his stuff is kinda weak with gore anyway But for the young audinces i can see why theu might think he is twisted if you wanted real perversety check out last house on the left are i spit on your grave im Just glad he wasnt choose for the movie cell he needs alot more knowladge before making a movie such as it but dont get me wrong i do like his films just dont like when people say he invented anything are is the most shocking director is all

If either Darabont or Romero get the Director's chair, I will be as excited as a school girl on Prom night!

As buzz is going around about it It looks like good olde George might have a very strong chance at directing the reasons him and stephen have been very close for over 20 years and George has as you well know the most experince in the genre i think its probley going to be him i think personaly Darabount will co script but beening as he isnt really the gore type of director i Really think they will let George do it plus its almost certin universal will make it i think its far to say he will be given the job if he takes it is another thing he just might if they promise in the deal they well let him do a finale dead film
