Slither
This movie SLITHER is coming to the theater tomorrow (MARCH 31), so who is going to see it? Maybe I will...
This movie is about a horror feast with things that go slither, like in the title. Snakes? Worms? Take your pick. Alien parasites turn small-town residents into mutants and zombies. Hopefully, it has a few laughs. If not, the audience will supply them anyway. |

It kind of makes me think of Tremors. I might check it out.

I've heard pretty good things about it, and it seems a return to 80's style horror like THE FLY and FROM BEYOND.
The mutated looking guy I keep seeing pictures of actually looks the spit of Dr Praetorius from FROM BEYOND. It does look like it has a shot at being pretty good though. Let me know if you, or anyone else, see it. I'm curious if it's worth checking out. |

Unfortunately the post-modernists cannot stay away from paying homage, so this is likely another self-referential affair with apparently bad CGI.

There is use of CGI in it however (source: interview with the director), which for a body-horror movie is rather worrying.

Yes, he does say sparingly. But I'll take that over what we usually get. As long as they use traditional FX for the creature effects, and just use CGI to cut the odd corner for budgetary reasons, I can live with that.
I'm all for "no CGI" as I argue in another thread but I guess we've got to realise it's going to be used whether we like it or not. I'm just happy that someone is willing to fight against it, even if they do submit to its occassional use. |

I think one of its uses here is to create around 27000 writihing worms, which the director defends "could not be done otherwise".
Unfortunately this reason is being issued as an excuse to pump out poor CGI renditions of just about anything these days, and if there are no creative boundaries anymore due to pixel-power where is the fun in watching that? The odd touch up here and there, for sure - the technology is there to be harnessed - but all this CGI blood and gore "added later" can be spotted a mile off to the even half-trained eye and gives an instant sense of disconnection with the proceedings. |

Slither was an enjoyable flick. A little tongue in cheek at times but thats understandable from the writer of Tromeo and Juliet. Sometimes the accents are a little forced and I hate to admit it but I had to turn on the sub-titles to catch all the dialog. It was worth it.
Don't be afraid to rent this one. ns |

I enjoyed the hell out of Slither. It was gory, funny, yes it was also tongue in cheek but that's actually what they were going for. It was supposed to be a cheesy 80's style horror flick.
Greg Henry was great. Maybe I'm easily entertained but everytime he was angry and ended up using the word c---sucker it killed me. Pretty much anytime he opened his mouth I died. The use of the horrible Air Supply song was great. Nathan Fillion did a good job and so did Elizabeth Banks. Everytime I see her though it justs reminds me of her role in The 40 Year Old Virgin. Lastly, the song that played during the credits. AWESOME!!! I guess I really dug the hell out of this one. "Looks like something that fell off my dick during the war". |

Bill Pardy "You would have married him too if he had a gina"
gina kid (as he's listed in the credits) "Whats's a gina?" Bill Pardy "It's a place where gianese people come from" Classic in the context of that film....guess everyone else will have to watch it to catch the joke. |

I had a lot of fun while watching this movie, and as previously mentioned it totally had a Tremors vibe to it which is why I enjoyed it.

slither was actually made years ago in the 50s or 60s, it's only recently that the "shaun of the dead" horror/comedy crew decided to make it into a new ROM/ZOM/COM (romantic zombie comedy) film. i haven't actually seen all of it yet, but i saw some pretty good bits. it isn't actually very scary at all, but i have to admit, it's a veritable bundle of laughs.
