I wasn't aware it was supposed to be based on BODY SNATCHERS (or the original novel). I actually wasn't that keen on it. I saw it a few years ago but it seemed average TV movie fare to me. [/b][/quote] Actually, I think this series is new, maybe for the fall line-up. It is suppose to be on one of those big broadcasting channels like, ABC, NBC, or CBS. I remember seeing the commercial where a little girl is being tucked in by her mother, and the little girl tells the mother that she smells different. The mother looks like Rebecca De Mornay, but I could be wrong. |

I have to nominate the Thai film, SHUTTER for an ending that will leave you falling to the floor with your jaw dangling from your mouth.

Hmm, gonna have to look around for that "Shutter" film... does the rest of the movie live up to that end, Mr. Boxeador Espiritual?

Hey Juan, The movie is quite well done. The film is able to grab your attention and captivate you from beginning to end. Lately, I've been trying to find a new asian horror film that would have a profound effect on me and reinvigorate my love for asian horror. Recently, there hasn't been an asian horror film that really stands out, instead we are given mediocre films that seem to mirror one another, providing us with a tedious viewing experience. I believe that SHUTTER will be the next asian horror film that will have horror lovers from around the world talking. Sure, you might see something in SHUTTER that has been done before, but I believe the difference here is that, SHUTTER does it better. There is something special about this film, and when the ending hits, it hits hard. Plus, the story is rather good, and the idea of using real life ghost photographs is quite original. Trust me, I think you will enjoy it, and I think DevilMan can attest to that. Heres a link to a review over at Arrow in the head: http://joblo.com/arrow/reviews.php?id=977 |

Hey Juan, Good luck with the search. I don't think you will be able to rent it at Blockbuster or anything. I had to go to Chinatown to buy the dvd, but that was awhile ago though. Now, you could probably find it at dvd sites that offer foreign/cult films like: www.xploitedcinema.com www.diabolikdvd.com www.dvdasian.com www.yesasia.com www.hkflix.com Happy huntings! |

The trailer certainly looks really good. Strange thing, it actually gave me the shivers. The goddamn trailer. sheesh.
Ya I'm definetly getting this one. If you have any more recommendations, they will be greatly appreciated! My asian cinema "phase" continues as the mates and I have seen in the past weeks: "Memento Mori" (jury still out on that one), "Whispering corridors" (meh, silliest ghost I have seen), "Infection" (alright! the sickest sounds this side of the spicegirls), "A tale of two sisters" (GREAT stuff). The videoclub has Koma, H and "Acacia" too. After that, it's gonna be BUY CITY, but for that I need to know a movie is good (I just can't buy every crappy movie...). So, yes, your recomendations will be appreciated. B)

Mr. Boxeador Espiritual, actually I saw "The Eye" a couple of months ago, my reaction to it? I am not sure really. I liked the story, I liked the acting, music, and a couple of the "scares" are VERY effective (I mean, the sequence in the elevator is great stuff!) BUT on the whole... maybe the movie is way to slow and doesn't pay off? I am not sure really, I have no problems with "slow" movies, but this one bored me at times, wich didn't happen with say, Memento Mori or of course A tale of two sisters.
DO I consider it a good movie? certainly! I would recomend it to people. Great? ahh, no, not really. Anyhow, wanted to let you know that I WILL get the "Shutter" DVD, my girlfriend's brother is coming to visit from Canada and he promised to look for it and bring it, so I'll let you know what I think!

HIRUKO THE GOBLIN (Japanese 1990) - Pretty entertaining and humorous horror film about a spider-like demon that uses people's heads as a body. Think of the spider creature from Carpenter's THE THING. UZUMAKI (Japanese 2000) - Very entertaining horror film about a town mysteriously plaqued by spirals. KAIRO (Japanese 2001) - Japanese teens investigate a series of suicides linked to an internet webcam that promises visitors the chance to interact with the dead. Soon to be a Hollywood remake. |

Heres another nominee for best ending. Does anyone remember the ending for SLEEPAWAY CAMP? Well if you do, then you were probably shocked as hell with the twist towards the end like I was. Twig and berries, man, twig and berries! Thats all I have to say about that!

Yeah! I remember watching SLEEPAWAY CAMP at the tender age of 12, and that ending really freaked me out. The reason why it was so effective on my young ass mind was that throughout the film, we new that character as Angela, but she turned out to be a boy with the CRYING GAME syndrome. At that age, I didn't understand why a girl would have a dick, and didn't find out until later that it was actually a guy pretending to be a girl. Man, that left a bad taste in my mouth for about a week. |
