What was the last Horror movie you watched? - Page 167

I liked Argento's the Card Player, which was basically just another giallo formulaic in the mould of his earlier efforts. And the Stendahl Syndrome was pretty good altho its a long time since I watched it.

Sand Sharks? Anything with shark in the title I make an effort to avoid. It does not bode well

I haven't seen The Card Player but I wasn't impressed by The Stendahl Syndrome. Even Asia Argento couldn't save that & I will sit through most of her films (even the self indulgent mess that is Scarlett Diva!)

How can you make the shark statement. Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus is a classic!

The Chernobyl Diaries

Great idea, crap movie.

Lately there haven't been too many horror movies in the theater that looked interesting, and the ones that did turned out to be crap. Chernobyl Diaries included, I take it haha. There's one coming out called V/H/S that looks sort of interesting. It's a five short anthology framed around the story of this group who have been hired to steal a VHS tape (retro, right?) from a house.

As for what I've watched. The last horror movie I watched was from the collection Pure Terror, called Terror from the Grave. They have some delightfully awful movies in that collection, but this one was mostly just boring. I didn't even pay much attention to it, haha.

Very true that Argentos glory days are behind him. Thought the Stendahl Syndrome had some good moments, or at least stand out Argento visual moments. Always meaning to watch Scarlett Diva, altho admittedly only to watch Asia as I suspect a good movie it aint.

Thought Asia was great in B. Monkey.

Mainstream horror does seem to be going through a rough patch. Although I am looking forward to Exit Humanity.

Maybe its me but The Stendahl Syndrome seemed to be trying to hard, almost like it was another director trying to imitate Argento.
Scarlett Diva is shockingly bad. Asia may be a great actress but the movie is poor, a very muddled tale of catholic redemption. But as always Asia looks stunning

i have recently watched The Intruders on dvd and i was quite disappointed as well, i didn't really like how the movie was resolved and it was not really that scary although based on the movie adverts and trailers that it was super scary that it was unrated by the movie boards in our country, apparently it was just a part of the movie publicity

Watched 3 films this weekend

Splinter, enjoyable low budget movie.

Prometheus, struck me as utterly pointless, explained nothing & is living off the Alien tie-in. Really disapointing.

Exit Humanity, overly long but pretty good.

I think Prometheus is a first film in an intended trilogy. Think I read that anyway.

The Living Dead At Manchester Morgue (attempted)

I don't what it is but I just can't seem to finish this film. The acting is dire and I'm not finding it all that engaging. Italian zombies don't really do it for me to begin with, Zombie Flesheaters was a chore to sit through as well. The weird way the zombies are handled puts me off slightly, the way the "vocals" are dubbed and made to sound all voodoo like and sinister is just distracting.

One day I'll probably finish this but it doesn't seem all that likely

Sorry Raven, I love Italian zombies & those are two of my favourite films in that sub-genre.If you don't like those I would suggest never attempting Zombie Creeping Flesh, its an aquirred taste!

Sorry FD. I think I'll take your advise on ZCF as I've decided to give up on LDAMM as the Italian take on zombies really isn't doing it for me.

I'm very particular about zombies and I really don't like straying from the "shuffling" breed. In fact I'd go so far as to say that I really don't like change from an established (atleast to me) form. Which, for similar reasons, I regard Twilight to be the single greatest act of sacrilege to all things vampire

I actually almost prefer the remake of Dawn to the original. Sometimes Romero's movies could get a bit...ponderous.

As for any recent horror flicks I have watched, I can't remember the last one even though it was only earlier this week. However, I'm kicking around watching The Crazies later tonight. The remake, not the original, which I haven't been able to find.

I really liked the DOTD remake. It never tried to be Romero's movie & just went for damned enjoyable. To my mind it worked. As for the new Day Of The Dead, god that is awful! Zombies that can walk on ceilings! Utter crap.

I have no problem with fast zombies (or slow ones for that matter). The problem I find with the slow shufflers is unless they are in massive quantities, they pose little threat. Even in Romero's classic Dawn Of The Dead, four people (one badly wounded) easily took out over 100 zombies in a mall without any further injuries. What does annoy me is when people say 28 Days Later invented fast zombies. Unless I'm mistaken Umberto Lenzi's Nightmare City had the first fast zombies.

There is a kind of logic to that. I love Romero's movie. It is a classic & will allways be a favourite of mine, but the remake did a great job of being a great little zombie film that's paced well & entertains.
