The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy and Other Stories by Tim Burton. A quick read.

With nothing new to read a the minute, thought I'd have a re-read of Watchers by Dean Koontz.

I'm reading a collection of 23 ghost stories that my mom found for me at a library book sale. It contains works by Lovecraft, Poe, and several other authors. So far it's a good read, although I'm only about fifteen pages in lol

That sounds interesting. Love finding collections in second hand shops, sometimes you get really surprising stories you've never read.

Currently re-reading Haunted by James Herbert, in preparation for reading his new novel Ash, which is the third in a trilogy featuring a psychic investigator character.

THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO

Read it a bit back. A long one. And well worth the read. However, after seeing the two film versions, my views aren't entirely positive.

It takes waaaaay too long to get Lisbeth Salander into the story proper. I can understand that somewhat given it was written as "Men Who Hate Women", and therefore she was probably never intended to become the main protagonist, or even joint protagonist.

I also feel that it works better as a film given they both come across as "the book with the boring stuff taken out" (and I know how much that sounds like a modern kid raised on movies and TV who has never read a book...)

Also there's more interesting choices in the movie/s taken with Salander and her mother.

I'm going to read the next in the series anyway. So yeah I definitely recommend seeing the movies before reading the book.

The Rats by James Herbert. Very easy read but enjoyable. About to start Death Mask by Graham Masterton.

I am currently reading The Last to Know by Wendy Corsi Staub. Not a bad novel so far but am finding it hard to get into. It's about a killer murdering young mothers with children.

Love Herbert and Masterton, altho not read the latter for a long time.

Currently reading the Vampire Tapestry by Suzy McKee Charnas. Stunning and original vampire novel. I read it at least once every two years. Recommend.

Always meant to read Moby Dick, it's on my to-read list, along with Daphne Du Mauriers Rebecca, which sits on my bookshelf. Incidentally I watched the Hitchcock movie last night. I must read it this year at some point.

^ I'm halfway through. It's good, but my lord does Mellville meander! The section I'm reading now talks about depictions of whales in art. He will just kinda start to ramble about some random detail about whaling now and then, then get back to the story. Still, at least the rambling is entertaining. And the story itself is good. It just feels like the book is padded out and you could shave off about two hundred pages or so.

As long as the rambling is entertaining!! There is nothing worse I find than reading words off a page and not concentrating and taking in what you're reading lols

Will have to check out. I hope your writing is going well btw
