Default Avatars

If anyone wants me to have a go at doing one of these for them then, while I'm available, let me know. Please have a/some image/s though. I won't really want to go hunting round for a cool image of "insert horror icon". And give me a good image to work with.

You can all upload your own now, and I'd suggest doing that rather than linking to remote images. That way if the remote image disapears you'll still have your avatar.

I've set the avatar size at 150x150. Very generous by most standards. But I myself prefer the look of the larger ones anyway. So I'd say have at it and leave those 53x27 pixel avatars behind that every other board makes you use.

I've done a couple of quick general horror avatars, that anyone can use in the gallery, and will probably get round to doing some more.

Cool. I've also noticed that some recent versions of vBulletin auto-resize avatars.

The avatar I'm using right now is a 175x175 pic on my hard drive. I selected it for upload and the forum auto-resized it to 150x150.

Hmm I think some defaults changed to. I had to go into the Control Panel and switch on the display for Avatars and Images.

Yeah it does resize the avatars. But they come out much better if it's not sampling up from a small image, or resizing from a non-proportional image, just as they would in something like Photoshop. Which is why yours looks completely fine.

Thanks for pointing out about the Avatars/Images. I know the sigs need changing because HTML is disallowed, whereas I had it set to OK before (which isn't great practice really). I'll look into it and see if there's a setting I need to change.

Let me know if you see anything else awry also.

Cheers

If anyone's interested, you can find a variety of 100x100 icons in this community: http://community.livejournal.com/horror_icons/
They're basically for livejournal users, but in most cases, just asking for permission will do, so you can use them someplace else.
