The Red Shoes and the Doll Master, I think.

Quite liked the former, didn't care for the latter.

Watched THE HOST for the first time. Dug it quite a bit. I mean it's not flawless, but it was definitely enjoyable.

Thought the ending
SPOILER

I agree. I think it's one of those films where the unbelievability can be forgiven, kind of comic book in it's approach. A fun movie and a great monster. Hillarious too! I think the key words here are non-conventional and non-Hollywood, which invariably equal something worth watching.

The Host is a favourite of mine, it's everything cloverfield should of been but wasn't. For a monster movie it really concentrated on the human element of the story. I loved the way it could switch between moments of comedy to moments of real drama & emotion in seconds. I would agree with both your points in the spoiler. the later being an issue but not enough to spoil the movie for me.

Yeah I'm with you both, the (seeming) lack of government hunting didn't spoil it really. I'm not usually forgiving of such things, but it was ignorable in this case.

Agree on the seamless comedy/drama transitions. A number Asian films seem to do this really well, Western ones less so.

As for the unconventional ending I gained a further appreciation for it a day or too later when I finally got around to seeing COLLATERAL. Man, the ending is so Hollywood it's ridiculous. Coincidental, predictable, too-neat, and downright lazy.
