Post our FORUM RULES

FORUM RULES (VERSION 1.02 - 5-March-10)

WHAT WE'RE ABOUT

Horror Express is a horror forum that caters towards intelligent reasoned debate with a friendly atmosphere.

The Golden Rule
Make worthwhile intelligent posts and don't cause problems.

DO's
ATTACK THE OPINION NOT THE POSTER
If you're going to get into a heated debate about something that's fine, but please make sure you debate the issues and don't degenerate into personal attacks. Any form of flaming/trolling will get short shrift in a hurry.

STAY ON THE THREADS TOPIC
This keeps topics focused and avoids people who opened it to read about a specific topic having to trawl through discussion not relevant to the thread.
If you want to talk about something blatantly off the topic of the original post just open your own thread.

USE DESCRIPTIVE TOPIC TITLES
So people know if the topic is worth opening for them.
"Identify recent movie about a Mothman" = Good.
"HELP!!" = Bad.

DON'Ts
DON'T ABUSE, FLAME OR CAUSE PROBLEMS WITH OTHER MEMBERS
Treat others with respect. Don't start/pick fights.

DON'T OVER-QUOTE
Quote only what is relevant to your reply. Don't quote entire large posts (we've just read) by others.
It's unnecessary, clogs up threads and the database, and is a waste of bandwidth/download time.

Don't give away SPOILERS to movies/books/etc.
Discuss them by all means, but please type

tags around them.
No-one likes endings or vital plot points given away to movies they haven't seen.

Don't SPAM URL's of other sites
We're not here for free advertising. And if it seems like you're just here to do that you'll get short shrift.

Don't register multiple accounts/usernames
We are not a haven for people with Multiple Personality Disorder. Multiple accounting is almost always done for nefarious purposes.

MAKE YOUR POST READABLE
GOOD ENGLISH
Paragraphs, punctuation, good spelling, capitalisation, etc. make your post much easier to read and understand.
You don't need to be an English Professor, but if you can't be bothered to spend the time to make it intelligible why should anyone take the time to read/reply to it?

TEXT COLOR/SIZE/BOLD/ITALIC
Overuse of these might look great to you on your screen (with the skin you're using), for others it can make your posts unreadable. The default text look has been chosen as it has been tested on different skins/resolutions.
Sensible highlighting
is OK, bold/caps being generally the best highlight methods.
And again don't bold entire posts. The main text is set as it should be. You don't need to stand out by using different text colors/sizes to everyone else. Stand out with your words.

DON'T TYPE IN ALL CAPS

'Shouting' is bad netiquette. Your words are not more important than everyone elses.
TEXT SPEAK
No, no. And NO. We aren't charging you by the letter.
