Well, I know I'll be going to see ALIEN: THE DIRECTOR'S CUT in the theatre... even if I have to drive halfway to Miami to do it.
has reported that despite a heavy marketing campaign, 20th Century Fox has cut the number of theatres showing the revised ALIEN this month. The planned 1200 prints has been slashed down to 350. Now, to be fair, that is still a very respectable number for a re-release. Let's face it, this is a film that has been available on video and DVD for over twenty years. True, it has never been seen in Scott's new director's cut (although some footage has shown up on DVD and laserdisc), but it's still not something Joe Sixpack (I hate that guy) would flock to see. This is something for fans mainly. A couple years back, Warner Bros. scored a coup with their re-release of THE EXORCIST scored a whopping $ 39 million. This could be the case again, but likely Fox will be trying to score interest from the fans and rake in the big bucks on the huge DVD box set coming out. In the meantime, you can find an interview with Ridley Scott where he comments on the ALIEN: DIRECTOR'S CUT . Enjoy. Also, a belated welcome to our newest reviewer, Poshyface, who will be stopping in from time to time. The Express is getting bigger. -------- [I 30h resevil_08 I]Comment on this article in our !
