I wouldn't be surprised if people is gonna mention the infamous shower scene in Psycho.

But eh, most memorable death/murder? I would possibly say, Glen from A Nightmare On Elm Street.

"Professor! Can't you examine my brain without removing it?"

"Yes, easily."

Its awsome. But Torrez was more disturbing to watch through, I mean poor guy. We never saw him do any wrong. He screamed like an chick in an haunted house, as his eyes gouged out along as a Zombie tear his head off.

Oh yes, poor sod, he was probably the only nice soldier out of the bunch, but we never got to know his character thats the only flaw with DAY. But yeah his death made me feel uncomfortable.

The guy in HELLRAISER who's chained between the two pole things with hooks. Then he gets pulled apart. I didn't pay much attention to the film because honestly it bored. But that scene was great

I agree with you SWD, I think Italian horrors do murder scenes better than anybody else, there are so many to chose from! When I have to think of one that tops em all though I always think the eyball scene from Zombie (Flesh Eaters) is the most intense one, it has it all - the slow (in real time not slow-mo) build up that makes you wanna look away, the noise the zombie makes is chilling AND it delivers the goods instead of cutting away!! It has been imitated so many times (not least of all by Fulci himself) but never topped.

The double murder by the boy in NIGHTMARES IN A DAMAGED BRAIN takes some topping - it takes place during a sex scene, one of the victims is tied down, a head is chopped off, and an axe buried in the face of another. The ghastly (re-animated) severed head keeps turning up in bed under the sheets in the tormented nutter's nightmares in later life.

This former 'video nasty' features some very grim gore indeed, the effect of which is amplified through the cheap and nasty finish of the film. It unashamedly ripped off HALLOWEEN and other slashers, but has a sleazy and disturbing style all of its own.

More sci-fi then horror, my favorite is still Kenny being mowed down by ED-209 in Robocop. It's a little more bloody in the Criterion DVD.

House of Wax. The death of Paris Hilton was priceless.

Scott and Ten have beat me to my answer of SUSPIRIA. One that does come immediately to mind.

So I'll say another one which, while not gory, most certainly does go down as _memorable_. One which I saw just the other day, and that still never fails to affect me.

THE WICKER MAN

I have two for you:

Paul Ruebens in BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER. "Ooo...ahh...uhh..." Funniest and most sarcastic death ever.

The death of Private Mellish(Adam Goldberg)in SAVING PRIVATE RYAN. It seemed so personal and poignant, the slow over-powering, the knife sliding into him...horrific and well acted.
