I'm not saying he needs to be killed, not that at all, but whatever power Gus Van Sant has in Hollywood needs to be revoked. Now.

While talking to Moviehole about his latest movie 'Gerry' recently, Van Sant said one of the stupidest things I think I've ever read, in regards to the classic movie 'Psycho', and his feelings on how his remake of it went...

"'Psycho' was great, a huge kind of grand experiment project. Very trial by fire. It met with a lot of criticism – but we managed to keep afloat, I think we broke even. But no, I wouldn’t remake another movie again, however, I’m thinking of remaking “Psycho” again. Doing a third remake. The idea this time is to really change it – we’re talking about doing a Punk rocker setting. Viggo Mortensen suggested it. He was married to Exene Cervenka and knows all the right people to get involved – all the right punk rocker etc – so he would definitely be involved if we go ahead."

Wouldn't that technically be a second remake, since there's only been one? Whatever, it's still the most idiotic thing he could possibly have said. Everyone that I know shudders with disgust when Gus's original remake is mentioned, how violently pissed off are fans going to be if he tries another one?

Let's just hope he does a search for his name online and comes up with hundreds of articles just like this one and realizes "Wait, that's a really bad idea!".

I was walking through a used book store a few weeks ago and like always, I checked the film books. Things are so expensive retail that I have to check and see if they're available used, but that's beside the point.

I just about fell on the floor laughing when I spotted the book ALFRED HITCHCOCK AND THE MAKING OF PSYCHO. The book looked great, so it wasn't any fault of Stephen Rebello. The book is supposed to be great. But I had to double-check the copyright date, 1991. So naturally that made the front cover even more humorous. There's a blurb on the cover:

"Essential!... I've learned so much from reading this book!" - Gus Van Sant

I'll bet you did, Gus, but somehow I don't think graverobbing was what they had in mind. I really hope Gus is kidding in this article.
