Well, as everyone else in the World is moaning at us and slowly scraping everything about this fair land away...It's time to fight back and blow that English/UK trumpet!

Watching today:
"Went the Day Well" - Classic 'Ealing' film about a troop of Nazi's disguised as Brtitish soldiers taking over a small English village. Wonderful old school film making full of all the cliche's of sunlit English meadows and lanes, English stiff lupper lips, beastly Germans and dialogue like "some of the chaps...".

"Sharp's Rifles"/"Sharpe's Eagle" - Excellent stuff! Sean Bean in top form as the battling British fight those French and have to put up with idiot upper class officers while doing so.

"The Long Good Friday" - Classic 80's British gangster film. One of the best with a tour de force turn by Bob Hoskins as gang Boss Harold Shand.
The wonderful moment when a doomed Harold Shand rants in defiance at the Mafia and Americans is a gem!
..."celebrate what England has given to the world. Culture, sophistication, genius...A liitle bit more than a hotdog know what i mean".
