And Then There Were None
Director: René Clair
Year: 1945
Writer: Agatha Christie | René Clair | Dudley Nichols
Web Link: http://imdb.com/Title?0037515
Plot:
Ten people are invited for a weekend on an island by a Mr U. N. Own, but he isn't on the island. At dinner a record is played, by that all the people are accused of murder, suddenly the first of them is dead, then the next... It seems to be that one of them is the murderer Mr. U.N. Own, but the person in suspect is always the person who is murdered next.
I like this movie, and given a chance you'd like it, too. No gore, no real violence (by today's standards), just a good little murder/mystery with some dark humor thrown in.
Is it a horror film?
Ten people trapped on an island, being murdered by an unknown person(s) for past misdeeds. Each person being killed in accordance with a children's nursery rhyme.
So, I guess it is, as it sounds like one the bajillion other slasher films that came after it that fall into the 'horror' category, except better than most.
The Characters/Suspects- thier crimes-
The Doctor- responsible for a death while operating drunk
The Judge- Knowingly sentenced an innocent man to death
The Detective- Dull as a bag of hammers. His purgury led
to the death of an innocent man
The Butler- suspected of killing his former employer
The Maid- Butler's wife. Helped The Butler kill thier
last employer
The Prince- Lost his driving liscense after his
reckless driving killed two people.
The Secratary- Suspect in the death of her sister's fiance
The Explorer- responsible for the death of a tribe
Ms. Proper- Sent her nephew away were he commited suicide
The General- Ordered his wife's lover to his death
I think it would be safe to say that any of these characters could be the murderer during the first viewing.
Go see this movie. Its in the bargain bin, its on sale. Buy it buy it buy it. You can probably get the DVD for under $5, that's less than it would cost to feed a starving child.
<**** I actually like this movie so much that i'm going to edit out all the my 'humor' crap.*****>
