Personally -- i HAVE to go with Lon Chaney just because he did all his make-up himself and damn near had to rip his face doin' the phantom of the opera then all the shit he had to put on his back and jump around in, in the hunchback of notre dame and he had absolutely no technology back then to work with...
he is truly a LEGEND!!!
