Just so people know what's going on, if they aren't reading out-of-the-way threads, I'll use this thread to inform the board of Moderation decisions carried out.

The honour of kicking it off goes to KENNYTHAKILLA (http://www.horrorexpress.com/forum/member.php?u=4871).

KENNY, and his leaving/banning.

REASON:
It's really a self imposed ban. He said twice he was done with the board, and then started with insults. I was not going to allow him to take it any further.
Barring that I'd have given him a warning (or infraction) at most, for repeatedly starting trouble with members.

ISSUE:
Repeatedly picking fights with people, and not stopping them when told to. Even leading me to post our first ever "stop picking fights (http://www.horrorexpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6969)" thread. He didn't get the message.


Issue starts around here (http://www.horrorexpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4981&page=23).
But in just six months he has done the same thing multiple times.
In three months at HorrorMovieFans (http://www.horrormoviefans.com/message_board/view_topic.php?id=14829&forum_id=3) the exact same issues (http://www.horrormoviefans.com/message_board/view_topic.php?id=14824&forum_id=26&page=14) are cropping up, leading to more banning talk.

I just made sure he couldn't spend the next few days/weeks polluting this board with more insults and scab-picking. Because, let's face it, he's a belligerent SOB who can't let anything lie.

His reaction to me telling him and Zarc to calm it down is ridiculous. And, like he does, he was only going to escalate the issue. That's after I had to start a whole thread (http://www.horrorexpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6969) based on what he was doing to the board. He was just never going to learn. Over that issue, the other member (not in the wrong) apologised. Kenny did not.

This is his M.O. I did a search for him on Google (http://www.google.co.uk/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=&q=kennythakilla). The first hit is his profile on HorrorMovieFans. The second hit is a Mod there starting a poll "Petition To Remove KennyThaKilla From HMF (http://www.horrormoviefans.com/message_board/view_topic.php?id=14829&forum_id=3)" based on threads like this (http://www.horrormoviefans.com/message_board/view_topic.php?id=14824&forum_id=26&page=14) (which is a bloody abortion of a thread). This is from December, he's only been registered there since freaking September. The reason: starting idiotic pissing matches with other members that just escalate and escalate. And then making things worse when he's told to stop.

He just can't play well with people. The only reason things haven't got worse here is due to the calmness of the board. I'm not having members chased away by a dude who constantly picks fights. And then won't stop it when told to.

This is exactly why this forum is, in my opinion head & shoulders above the rest. There are no bullshit egos, posturing & silly bollocks. Just a group of likeminded genre fans that respect each others veiws.
I know that this isn't the most heavily populated forum but that doesn't matter. What is posted here by each & every member is worth reading, every post! How many forums can you say that about? How many forums could even attempt "The monthly movie club" without descending into insults & flame wars?
At the end of the day its Kenny's loss & hopefully with the two recent explulsions this board can continue the way it should be.

Can't say I'll miss him too much. It was rapidly becoming tiresome having to argue every point with him; he was rarely in agreement with others' points of view here yet he didn't seem to like the fact that that works both ways. I'm always reluctant how people will react when I take decisions like this. So I'm grateful people are on board with it.

Really, as a participant, I think it's very easy to think that it's better to just let things go. But as this boards Admin for approaching ten years I've changed over the years from someone that gave absolute carte blanche, to someone who realises that giving absolute freedom to everyone just allows the bad apples to spoil the barrell.

And yeah, Kenny seemed to think the fact this place isn't busy bothers me. It doesn't. Sure I'd like it to be busier, but never, ever at the expense of letting the inmates run the asylum. As it is I'm very happy with where we are now - populated by a bunch of really great people...

Think you've summed him up perfectly mate. In the entirety of debates here he was only ever concerned with proving himself right. For example, on the Movie Club about PARANORMAL ACTIVITY I said I disliked/hated it, but I was willing to concede it had some positive points. He was not willing to concede it (or anything else he was defending) had ANY negative points. Which is just an extremely childish point-scoring debate "style".
Every time I posted a negative opinion on a movie I was just waiting for him entering the thread and trying to start of a multi-page argument about how wrong my own opinion on it was. You just can't debate with someone like that because there's take, but no give. It is pretty fucking tiresome, really.

I mean IRL I'm an easily above-average argumentative, obstinate, self-opinionated, stubborn bastard. But he makes me look like Mary Fucking Poppins.

As for how sad some people are - you are right. Honestly I think a lot of them are people most of us would have nothing to do with in real life. Social misfits. They get online and they get to interact with people when IRL no-one has anything to do with them, because they're a lot easier to figure out in person. But online they just end up making the same mistakes that cause people to shun them in person.

I banned him and then discovered those threads on HMF and felt absolutely vindicated. Mods/old members there describing his foibles EXACTLY as I'd come to see him. That THE THING thread I linked is an absolute mess - 20 pages of him getting into stupid arguments with multiple long-standing members and mods, convinced he's in the right and there's a conspiracy against him. Hell, his intro thread (http://www.horrormoviefans.com/message_board/view_topic.php?id=14326&forum_id=2) there talks about him trolling the internet, and then descends into another argument, which is pretty fucking lol.

I mean, let's face it, life is too short to waste our time with people like that...

In short, a pain in the arse. I recall him getting into an argument with another member here a few months back over some silly petty matter, resulting in them apologising to him when clearly he was the one making such a big deal. I should have said something then but let it lay; said member thereafter didn't return. Sure hope it wasn't because of that idiot, cos I valued their imput more than his.:)

& if I may be Franc (didja see what I did there? :teeth:) Some people seem to love & use the anonymity of the internet to pick fights & arguements with people knowing there is little or no comeback. Face to face these people generally wouldn't say boo to a goose but miles away behind the safety of a keyboard & monitor they become obnoxious. Cat III was a genre of movie made in Hong Kong that was either full of extreme violence or sex (mostly both) The Untold Story, Red To Kill & Her Vengeance would be amongst the best. A lot of them verged towards the kind of violent pinku movies that Japan made.

I didn't run afoul of Kenny and his argumentative tendencies much. Once that I can recall...something about ghosts. I remember him having a go with you Styg about the ghost thing, and did note that you didn't bother to get into argument. It was a sensible move on your part, as I think a lot of the time Kenny did it just for that, so someone would argue the toss with him. Shame I myself didn't take the same course of action and just ignored him.:)

You've got more self control than I Styg. Really if it hadn't been my forum I'd have gotten into constant arguments with him.

I know it's futile arguing with them, but I can't stop myself sometimes. They don't change, and in the case of people like him it's all a whole big contest to them. They have to "win" arguments like they're playing football. Guy has probably never admitted he's been wrong in his life.

As you say the only way to go is to not even engage with them. Starved of oxygen they give up (or move on to someone that gives them attention).

Ghostman has emailed me once or twice a month since he was banned. I don't ever reply.

See, that's the thing. Often, especially online, a discussion becomes an argument. It isn't about sharing or discussing, but rather about winning. You (not you in particular, you in general) don't listen to what the person says, but rather only hear enough to formulate a counter-response. Rather than going away enriched, both sides go away angry. And, oddly enough, more convinced that their own position is correct.

...well, crud. Out of curiosity I checked on where he was from (on the horror babes from horror movies thread, naturally), because how he acted made me suspicious that he was one of my countrymen. And I was right. Really....we aren't ALL like that on this side of the pond! haha. Unfortunately, many of us are. We have a massive man-child problem here in the states, especially among the part of the population with a Y chromosome...not sure anyone knows exactly what to do about it unfortunately.
