View Full Version : Can't we all just get along?

It's come to my intention that there's been more than the usual levels of head-knocking on the forums lately. This is not good for the forum. I'm all one for good progressive debate on topics (and often think we've tread too lightly for it in many of the years past) but back-and-forth entrenched arguments, when no side is going to give ground, are just routinely going to devolve into ever-worse ad hominem (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem) attacks. This I will not allow.

So when getting into debates consider this. Everyone is entitled to express their own thoughts, and if you aren't ever willing to give any ground why should someone else? This does not a debate make.

Picking fights, and getting into arguments for arguments sake, will not be tolerated. We don't all have to hold hands and sing Kumbaya. But we are not in an antagonistic relationship here, and setting one up does none of us, or the forum, any good. As such I'll do whatever is necessary to keep the forums running smoothly, else suffer posters leaving to sunnier climes.
-----------------

This is just me saying "make an effort to get on eh, chaps?".

We have way too few posters here too have constant clashes or Ignore lists...

If you want to leave your thoughts here then you can do so.

Note also the Forum Rules (http://www.horrorexpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6004), and specifically:
DO's
ATTACK THE OPINION NOT THE POSTER
If you're going to get into a heated debate about something that's fine, but please make sure you debate the issues and don't degenerate into personal attacks.

------------
I have let valued posters tread along the edge of this line in recent weeks (having felt I trusted you all enough to keep it civil). I will be looking to give out warnings in future though, to stop any issues escalating. Take note.

There's bound to be clashes over the 'semantics' of horror. I think the best course of action is to agree to disagree. Nothing's personal, and at the end of the day we're all united here out of our love of the horror genre....:):):)

A lot of it is the anonymity of the internet. I always stay cheery, though; no worries with me. :D
