I've only read one proper review so far and it wasn't very positive. Anyone seen it yet? I should be getting Juon the Grudge in the mail tommorow (hopefully).

I haven't seen the second theatrical JU-ON, but I think the two SOV Juon films are better than the theatrical version. If you haven't seen the two SOV ones, I would seek them out. The second SOV Ju-ON unfortunately reuses about 20 minutes of footage from the first. Where did you see the review? Post a link. I would like to read it.

I've seen quite a few available as "fan-subbed" bootleg DVD-R's on EBAY.

I definately enjoyed watching it, but I've been so tired all day that I dont realy want to comment to much on it until Ive seen it again (the fact that I cant wait to see it again is proberly a good sign). I'll proberly watch it with friends this weekend.
Definately had some good scares, but I didn't feel llike it was the same level as The Grudge 1. That one had me on the edge of My seat constantly, whereas this didnt seem to pack as much of a punch.
It did seem that the narrative (again flipping through time and people/perspectives) was played around with a bit more.
And gosh did I feel bad for that poor school girl
This was My first VCD, so Im not an expert on the medium. But heres My view quickly ... The VCD is alright, worth getting if You cant wait to see it. Though there are quite a few points where subs are obscured by white backgrounds. And thought the picture is watchable there are points where You feel Youre missing something because of lack of sharpness, especially in the darker bits. Like I say, get it if Your desperate, but it cant be long until an English subbed DVD (official) so its proberly worth the wait. Oh, and the sound quality shows, have it too loud and the hiss will annoy You.

Why is it that most Japanese horror movies have evil little girls for the monsters? They scare the crap outta me. It's just something about the fact that a little girl is normally so innocent, but the monster little girls in the movies are foul and corrupted.
Aaaaaagggggghhhh... Sleeping with the light on time again...

Ah, you should have waited alittle longer and you could have picked up the DVD instead which would have had an excellent picture and sound. Trust me, these two things DO make a difference with a movie such as this, ya know.

Hell, the same thing from the American film THE SHINING screwed me up for years. Of course, I saw it when I was ten or so....

Damn me and my impatience! Oh well, I'll proberly pick up the DVD sometime, the VCD didnt cost much so its not a big deal. But I'll proberly give the VCD another watch because Im not quite sure what I thought, it definately had some great stuff going on (including turning the wig scene from laugh out loud funny into frightening, quite a feat) but there were a lot of weak moments.

I guess it's to do with that they're supposed to be the picture of innocence.
Plus, a lot of the horror in some instances comes from what turned them into monsters.
But it has become a cliche in Asian horror... still a very scary cliche though.
