I'm making a cd of creepy horror-ish songs. I need some suggestions of songs about Vampires, Zombies, and other Monsters.
Please don't suggest Monster Mash or anything dumb like that. I want cool songs. So far, all I have is Godspeed You Black Emperor, and Bloodletting by Concrete Blonde.
I figured you dudes could help a girl out.
Thanks.

Obviously Rob Zombie is a gold mine for that kind of sound. Again, I'll pitch Midnight Syndicate's two CDs (Born of the Night, Realm of Shadows) and Nox Arcana (monolithgraphics.com).
One suggestion of interest is Dee Snider's new gig, Van Helsing's Curse. It's ok and different. And actually, the last few CDs from W.A.S.P. have really been interesting, including K.F.D. (Kill-F***-Die).
Just a few quick suggestions.

Hi, Hypothesis, welcome to Horror Express!
We're always willing to help out where we can. Especially the fairer sex. :afro:
Putting on my old-school Metal head I've thought of the following.
Zombies
Sepultura - Arise & Dead Embryonic Cells (Very heavy, very powerful)
Slayer - Live Undead (Typical Slayer)
Vampires
Judas Priest - A Touch of Evil (Atmospheric intro, very cool song)
Werewolves
Metallica - Of Wolf and Man
Megadeth - She-Wolf (not as heavy as you'd think. This is late era Megadeth)
General Spooky Badness
King Diamond - Everything. Amazing guy. A range Mariah Carey would be proud of. Every album is a concept one, and 100% horror themed. Babies who return from death to possess and murder, to a house inhabited by spirits from the other side, or the tales of 16th century witchcraft.
King is, well, the King.
Top recommendation is probably the album ABIGAIL circa 1987.
Slayer. Heavy clubbing riffs. Satanic lyrics. But sometimes, somehow, both very melodic and understandable (not always though!).
Top recommendation - the album REIGN IN BLOOD. Killer first and last track.
I'll add to this list, as no doubt, more songs are dredged up from the dim recesses of my memory.
BTW, can I inquire, out of sheer curiousity, if you're making the CD for a purpose?

For gothic themed madness, can't go wrong with Cradle of Filth.

It's purely for funsies. I have about 9 songs so far. Thanks for all the suggestions. I didn't have any of them.
Oh, I have another question. Do you think songs should be put in order of what they're about ex. Vampire song next to Vampire song, or should they go by musical sound?
It's a hard decision.

To go from a band like Godspeed You Black Emperor to fucking Monster Mash would sound like the embodiment of bullshit. It wouldn't flow. It wouldn't make sense to have all serious songs with creepy music and then through in MONSTER MASH! It would completely wreck the flow of the songs.
THAT'S WTF I'M TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!

Send More Paramedics are a great UK thrash/hardcore/metal band that sing about horror stuff (mostly zombies :D hence the classic name :D) Check them out, there's 2 mp3's on the site, their latest album is awesome.

To Hell and Back by Venom is great. Also, To Breathe in a Casket by Necrophagist is great, but some may not like death metal.

I can't think of monster specific songs but people into horror might like My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult.
If you like techno then Læetherstrip is worth a look.
I also really like the song Movement of Fear by Tweaker.
