AFTER SEEING ALL OF THESE, I WOULD SAY GINGER SNAPS!

I said GINGER SNAPS, although THE HOWLING comes close. None of them are slouches.

Also, I highly suggest you check out the films of Jacinto Molina, a.k.a. Paul Naschy. His Waldemar Daninsky is a recurring character in many films - a cursed werewolf. And the films themselves are fantastic.

Out of what I've seen, Dog Soldiers. I ordered Ginger Snaps off Ebay. Can anyone tell me, is it good?

I never can figure the awe for Ginger Snap's??? I thought it was decent, but I just cant follow the love of the masses for this one. I gotta go with Dog Soldiers. I would place Ginger snaps below American Werewolf in London fer sure! Sereously though, somebody help me out here? There seems to be an allmost PC need to say that Ginger Snaps is the greatist of all werewolf films, I really dont get it?

I dont know... All of those are great, except for Dog Soldiers... Ive only seen it once and wasnt that impressed, but that was with friends which proberly detracted from it, so Im looking forward to giving it more of a chance. I guess I would say Ginger Snaps, because it was a very good watch, but all of them are great!

I wouldn't mess around with the ARTISAN R1 DVD. It's full frame and I've read that it's been cut (is this true?). You might be better off with the Canadian or the UK release instead. They're widescreen and supposedly unrated and uncut.

I watched it today, I'd say it's equal to Dog Soldiers. And by the way, it's the R4 one.

Ginger Snaps is only a lVERY Low budget and just above average werewolf movie and should not be compared to:

AMERICAN WEREWOLF
THE HOWLING
WEREWOLF 1987
THE WOLF MAN
DOG SOLDIERS

But never -the- less its still worth a viewing or 2

I didn't think Ginger Snaps was very good until the very end. I want to watch a movie about a werewolf; not some pubescent girl in heat. The Howling was excellent; Dog Soldiers wasn't bad, but my personal favorite would have to be Bad Moon. This movie had a great storyline and the scariest looking wolf since The Howling. I think it deserves a place on your poll.

I agree with Solanar to an extent ... Bad Moon is a very overlooked entry in the werewolf genre. The fact that the dog was a character in the film gave it a unique spin. Along those same lines I would have to include Wolfen for its very unique spin on things.

I'm also a bit surprised Underworld was not on the poll, since it has been so embraced by horror fans.

Ultimately, chosing the "best/favorite" werewolf movie always comes down between An American Werewolf in London and The Howling.

The very slightest of edge goes to American Werewolf, though I could easily argue for The Howling just as much.

:censored:

Holy Freakin' Hell ... An American Werewolf in PARIS? How did that get put in a poll??

Certainly, my vote was misguided!!

American werewolf in London is the best, if you look when it was filmed. The look of a werewol was very ok for that year(1981).

ARE THEY REALLY MAKING AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN TOKYO BECAUSE AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN PARIS HAD THE WEREWOLVES LOOKING REAL INSHAPE BUT NOT IN SPECIAL EFFECTS SO I HOPE THEY DO BETTER IN SPECIAL EFFECTS.........I'D LOVE TO SEE SOME JAP PRICKS GET TORN UP.

AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN PARIS ACTUALLY GOT THE LOOK OF A WEREWOLF PRETTY MUCH RIGHT UNLOKE THOSE MEN IN COSTUMES RUNNING AROUND WITH OVERSIZE WOLF HEADS.

How the hell can an american werewolf in london have been missed out on the list? plus how the hell does aawip get on there? it was an awful film that was completely unfaithful to the original genius film by john landis. ive seen almost evry werewolf movie made and nothing comes close to awil. ginger is good but ginger isnt actually a 'werewolf' werewolves or lycanthropes change at the moon not gradually into full beast. dog soldiers kicks arse but isnt a speck on the howling.

In reply to UNHOLY...

Silver Bullet was the first werewolf movie I ever saw, and it scared the hell out of me as a kid. In fact, I'd have to give it credit for starting my fascination with Werewolves.
Sadly, when compared to other werewolf movies, I think it falls by the wayside in terms of plot and special effects. I've always rated the look of the wolf highly; this one looked too much like a bear.
The one in Bad Moon is my favorite, though the animatronics caused it's jaws to snap open and shut like a nutcracker. But the eyes...
I wonder what movie would be agreed to have the best-looking werewolf? I thought the plot of the Howling was terrible, but the werewolves were disgustingly scary, which is why I'd say The Howling is the best on the poll(since Bad Moon is absent). The lichens in Underworld looked realistic; though somehow they seemed un-wolf-like to me. They actually reminded me of Planet of the Apes a bit too much.

That's a very hard question.
American Werewolf in Paris SUCKED! As a matter of fact it SUCKED and BLEW... at the same TIME. This was such a bad sequel to an absolute Classic that it's one of those turkeys that you say "Never existed" If Landis was in his grave he would be spinning, NAY! he would rise to feast on the ibecile's that had anything to do with such drivel.

The Howling is a classic and will always have a special place in my heart, even though it spawned some GOD AWFUL sequels. This is a close second to An American Werewulf in London as best Werwulf movie.

Ginger Snaps was a great movie, I'm not just saying that because I am Canadian, but it's nice to see some great horror coming out of Canada in recent years. The
only other great Writer/Director to do some very creepy horror is David Cronenberg. This was a sleeper that I saw on the self and said HMMM, sound like a long shot but, I don't have anything else to do tonight. I must say, to see a women werewolf is SOOO refreshing, and nothin is HOTTER that watching Katherine Isabelle tear her poor male prey to peices in search of "wolfy" love. This would also be a very close race with the above

Dog Soldiers is another sleeper that I just happen to take a chance on at the Local Video outlet and was very pleasently surprised. This is the way werwulves are supposed to be... untill I ssaw Underworld! The Werwolves in Underworld were what I've alway's thought a Wolfy should be.

Others that I do enjoy are:
The Company of Wolves, I love the Girl in this movie, and the whole Grims Fairy tale bit is a wonderful experience. It's Red Riding hood for adults.

Bad Moon, low buget with Michael Pare, but was enjoyable non the less

Silver Bullet another one of those, I rented it at the Store and it was fit for the collection.

And last, but certianly not least, Wolfen. I must say that many people absolutely detest this movie, but i do love the idea of "Super Wolves" invading New York. And hey, anything with albert finney can't be bad....right?

Hi Guys,

I am new here and would like to share some of my fav werewolf movies with you all.

Some of them I am not sure whether you guys have heard of em or not but be sure to check it out!

1. Project MetalBeast
2. Bad Moon
3. Silver Bullet

4. American Werewolf in London
5. Dog Soldier
6. The Howling (All of em almost)

When I was 9 I watched a few other great werewolf movies but I cant remember the name and I am desp searching for them. Maybe some of you can help me out.

1. All I can remember is this story starts off with this dude who heads to a bar where the camera dont show his face but all the people were staring at him and later a couple gets attacked in their car by a werewolf. Thats all I can remember. Anyone can tell me the title would really appreaciate it. :P

Best werewolf movies I have seen would be

American Werewolf in london
The Howling
Silver Bullet
Project Metalbeast
Underworld (Not really a whole werewolf movie but it has werewolves)
Bad Moon
Wolfman

But the best werewolf movie would be between the howling and american werewolf in london

I have not seen Ginger Snaps or Dog Soldiers but they seem to critically acclaimed by werewolf movie fans so they must be good, so I will go rent them...

American Werewolf in London is THE best werewolf movie. I can't beleive An American Werewolf in Paris is even on there, that movie sucked ass!!!
AAWIL had no CGI's and was just all the special effects brilliance of Rick Baker.
It will always be number 1 in my book.
Although I do own all 3 Ginger Snaps, those are pretty good too. Dog Soldiers is pretty decent too, had allot of laughs in it.
