Frank Henenlotter, director of the off-beat films BASKET CASE, BRAIN DAMAGE and FRANKENHOOKER, is set to direct his first feature film in eleven years. Henenlotter will helm SICK IN THE HEAD, to be distributed by Fangoria Films. Henenlotter wrote the script with rapper R.A. Thornburn ( a.k.a. Rugged Man ).

"The first person I asked to pitch us a script was Frank Henenlotter," Fangoria editor, Tommy Timpone said. "It had been too long since he last directed a film, and we all wanted to work with someone who has a unique, offbeat and warped sensibility. That's Frank, big-time."

The film focuses on the son of two serial killers, whose homicidal tendencies came from parasites in their brain. Now, the father is trying to infect the son with the same parasites so their bloody rampage can continue.

Fangoria Films produced three underrated low-budget shockers in the early 90s - MINDWARP ( which featured cult icon, Bruce Campell ), SEVERED TIES and Tony Randall's CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT. The line went dormant until a few years ago, when they began acquiring European films for distribution in the United States. Some of their more notable contributions have included I ZOMBIE, ANGEL OF THE NIGHT, WILDERNESS and DEAD CREATURES.

This, however, is a much more ambitious project, the first of many. "The key was finding fresh and exciting material that could warrant a theatrical release," Fangoria Films President Stephen Mackler said, "And we are currently developing at least three more horror films to shoot over the next 18 months, the first of which will immediately follow SICK IN THE HEAD."

Since his hiatus from directing began, Frank Henenlotter has been known mainly as one of the driving forces behind the cult movies label, Something Weird Video.

Great news. let's hope he gets back into form as the "Basket case" sequels were pretty lame (the odd bizarre sequence aside) and although "Brain Damage" and "Frankenhooker" were very good, he never bettered the wonderful grindhouse/Drive -In classic "Basket Case".

Good to have some of the old school back in play...fingers crossed.

Sounds like some kind of pseudo-sequel to Brain Damage. It's almost the exact same plot. If he's rehashing old ideas I'd rather see another Frankenhooker movie.

Still, it will be nice to see him return as a director. I missed Basket Case 2 and 3 but love his other three films.
