I seem to be one of the only die-hard horror fans out there who does not like most heavy metal music. However, I do like most Marilyn Manson and Alice Cooper (especially the 70s stuff) and I think Evanescence is fantastic. I used to be more of a metalhead when I was younger and I had to buy Ozzy's BLIZZARD OF OZZ LP several times, as it was constantly discovered and trashed by my mother who was convinced it was the "devil's music."

The band I refer to as the "God Amongst All Bands" would be Concrete Blonde. I highly recommend anyone check out some of their albums - particlularly BLOODLETTING and MEXICAN MOON (that one is probably the best intro). The music just never ceases to take me away.

Other folks I like: Garbage, Tori Amos, The Velvet Underground, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Sheryl Crow, Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Ednaswap and a bunch of others I can't seem to think of right now, for one reason or another.

I am a HUGE Pink Floyd fan and have all 20 something of their albums (half of them suck by the way)

Led Zeppelin I am a big fan of. I liked the Page and Plant collaboration from the 90's. I also like Plant's last solo album.

I am a big TOOL fan. They are actually my favorite band. APC is pretty good but do not measure up to the magnificence of TOOL. I also like Chancellor's other band Peach pretty good as well.

I admittedly have never left the grunge scene of the 90's. AiC, STP, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, and Smashing Pumpkins frequently visit my CD player.

Other bands that I dig are Radiohead, Rage against the Machine, Marylin Manson, Rob Zombie, Black Sabbath, and Primus.

EDIT
I almost forgot. I like Metallica once again since they returned to their more 'raw' roots with the last album.

some great music and there is nothing wrong with still feeling the grunge scene. Some of my favorite music came out of grunge.

I became a major metalhead in the late 80's, and it's never left me really.

Everything from Heart to Slayer.
Favourites included Blue Murder, Queensryche, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, the usual basically.

Through the 90's the one band I've stayed true to, while most of the rest of metal has died, is the originators of Pagan Metal, Skyclad. Awesome band. Amazing lyrics/themes. Great music. A metal band with a violin. Revolutionary and totally underappreciated.

Now, with the advent of MP3, my tastes have widened considerably.
I like a number of things from pretty much all genres, and can be found listening to Metal, Thrash, Instrumentals, Techno (and all Electronica), and more mainstream tastes.

My fave band of the Noughties is VAST (Visual Audio Sensory Theater). An amazing one-man-band. Superb lyrics and music.

Anything on the SAW soundtracks. Oh! I do like a few songs that aren't SAW related, but they do remind me of SAW. (i.e. Bathwater by No Doubt reminds me of Dr. Gordon, Gettin' Jiggy Wit It by Will Smith can't you guys guess why this song reminds me of SAW???)

I'm listening to a ridiculous amount of :WUMPSCUT: atm, after discovering them a few months ago (about 2500 tracks worth in 4 month). They're a German dark-electronic industrial one-man-band.

Here's the full rundown on the musical that's currently hitting my ear drums at the excellent AudioScrobbler (http://www.last.fm/user/JohnShaft/).
Go on, poke fun at my taste. :D
