what is the name of this movie

okay i have been searching online to see if i could find this movie i saw. I want to say 2000-2006. I could be wrong about the years. The movie is about a family with a young son that refuses to sleep without a light on when it gets dark he turns on all the lights. His parents go out for the night and his borther has to stay at home to watch him. I think his girlfriend comes over at some point in the movie also.The big brother doesnt believe a word the little brother says about something coming out when it gets dark from his closet. its always in the shadows . well there is a thunderstorm they lose power everything goes dark and all hell breaks loose.this thing comes out of the walls and cant get in the light or it will destroy it . any clues this id driving me crazy!! Oh and its not the boogyman series although it sounds alot like that.

Sounds a lot like Cameron's Closet but that is an 80s movie. I wonder if someone did a remake?

In the 1800's there was a woman that little children would take their old teeth (ones they had recently lost) to in exchange for a gold coin. A few years later, tragedy struck her, first a fire in her house which caused her to not be able to go into any type of light, and then she was hanged. There's a story that goes around the town of Darkness Falls about her, and she's called the Tooth Fairy. The story goes that she can't go in the light, and if you wake up and see her, she'll kill you. The usual saying is "Don't Peek." Well, there is a boy named Kyle who gets a warning from his friend Caitlin to not peek. Well, he wakes up on the night when the Tooth Fairy is supposed to come and get his last tooth and sees her. It all leads to more tragedy and the movie jumps to 12 years later. Now grown up, Caitlin calls Kyle because her little brother Michael is going through the same things he did as a boy, and wants his help. Kyle goes back to Darkness Falls to face his past, and the woman in the porcelain mask (aka the Tooth Fairy).

I went online and checked out darkness falls and camerons closet and it isn't either one of those movies. see now you know why it was driving me crazy.
I want to add in the movie the younger kid always had his flashlight and later in the movie the young kid and his older brother rig up something to catch this thing. the effects were pretty good in this movie. this boogeman type creature would slide in the shadows along the walls. preety cool actually.. please keep trying thanks.
