Two bits of news for you today:
First off, reports that Media Blasters have picked up the U.S. distribution rights for Herschell Gordon Lewis' long-awaited BLOOD FEAST 2: ALL U CAN EAT ( The pic is obviously an older poster with one of the original titles ). The original BLOOD FEAST was the film many say was the original gore picture, sending people vomiting in the aisles in the early 60s. Much like they did for last year, Media Blasters will give BLOOD FEAST 2 a limited theatrical release, followed by the Special Edition DVD treatment, probably on their Shriek Show label. You can catch BLOOD FEAST 2's official site by clicking .
Media Blasters has also scored the rights to Jess Franco's FACELESS, starring Brigitte Lahaie, Carolyn Munro, Howard Vernon and Telly Savalas. This will go straight to DVD.
Also Dark Castle has announced their project for Halloween 2003 and it's got some big name stars to boot. According to , Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry ( MONSTER'S BALL, DIE ANOTHER DAY ) will star with Penelope Cruz ( BLOW, VANILLA SKY and it's better version OPEN YOUR EYES ) in GOTHIKA. No, it's not about a bunch of people getting together for a Joy Division concert. Rather, it's about a psychiatrist ( Berry ) who wakes up in a mental hospital as a patient, accused of a murder she has no memory of.
The film is written by Sebastian Gutierrez, who wrote and directed the acclaimed remake of SHE CREATURE for the Creature Features line. This project, however, still does not have a director.
Dark Castle is a company dedicated to relasing one horror film each year around Halloween. They started out creating remakes to William Castle classics, trying their hand at HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL and THIRTEEN GHOSTS. This marks their second original film in a row, following GHOST SHIP.
