I couldn't care less about Demi Moore's pathetic bid to recapture the adoration she never deserved in the first place. I'm also not interested in the mainstream success of Reese Witherspoon and Brittany Murphy, since both of them seem intent on taking parts beneath their talent in order to endear themselves to millions. What I am excited about is the career resurgence of Linnea Quigley.
Quigley was one of the figures who peaked my interest in exploitation cinema. If you look in our (and you should), you'll notice that one of her lines in RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD is in my sig file - a sig file I share on the alt.horror newsgroup. She was all over the place in the mid-eighties and early nineties.
She slowed down a bit in recent years and as she approached the big 4-0 (she is now 45 and still looks great), it seems her shelf life as a scream queen dissapeared like so many before her. Not so. If anything, the star of the classic HOLLYWOOD CHAINSAW HOOKERS has been reborn in the films of some of the leading cult filmmakers, including Jess Franco and the late Doris Wishman. She has also increased her net presence and now has a her own website that incorporates many of her personal beliefs.
is now reporting on Quigley's latest project. She is set to take the title role in MISS MANIAC. Quigley will play Sadie, a Charles Manson fanatic who meets up with a man (Jim O'Rear) who claims to be Manson's illegitimate son. So taken with her new love, she convinces him to re-enact the Manson killings for her.
The film is directed by Donald Farmer (AN EROTIC VAMPIRE IN PARIS, the RED LIPS films). Fango calls the film MISS MANIAC but the IMDB still lists it as CHARLIE AND SADIE, so who knows which title it will stick with? Expect to see this film sometime in the near future.
And, oh yeah, thanks to for the pic.
