Hey everyone,
So, I have to do this report for one of my summer classes and I decided to do it on the Chinese Ghost Month. The whole idea of the ghosts coming back to earth, wandering the earth for a period of time... it really interests me. While I was doing my research, I came across this movie called They Wait which is basically about a young family who encounter these ghosts. You can check out a synopsis at http://www.amazon.com/They-Wait-Michael-Biehn/dp/B001B187D4/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1215547704&sr=8-1. It sounds like it will be a really good movie. Does anyone know anything about Chinese Ghost Month?

Hey Hauntedtony, welcome to the H.E.

I can't say that I know much about Chinese Ghost Month if I'm honest, but I have just checked out 'They Wait' on IMDB.com and the synopsis does appear quite interesting - the score of 4.4/10 is worrying though - Horror movies rarely get very high scores on there, but 4.4 is low.

I know this is an old post, and your course is over. If you are still interested though, you could find a lot more information if you search under 'hungry ghost festival'. It's a month long Chinese festival where it is is believed that the gates of hell are opened for the spirits to wander the Earth. At this time many offerings (including effigies, food, paper money and other lavish products) are left for their consumption and for a persons protection against the spirits. It is said that when the food has been consumed, it will still be there physically, but the taste will be completely flavourless. The paper offerings are burned in drums on the street.
