Things finally seem to be moving on CURSED. And it looks like when we finally see the ferocious furballs (that's one of the conceptual drawings you see here), it will be a combination of three forces.
As we reported, Oscar-winner Rick Baker left the project in the middle, passing his design onto the KNB effects team. Now, that too will get a facelift. KNB's effects will still be seen in the film, and they will still be dervied from Baker's design, but they will also get some 21st century help.
"Basically, we wanted a better third act," director Wes Craven told . "We're going to update the script based on things we learned [about werewolf effects] using the combination of CGI and a physical werewolf by Rick Baker."
The CGI is hardly news. Just about everyone uses it these days. What is interesting is that the third act they were having so much trouble with is going to be retooled to encorporate those effects.
Filming is finally set to resume sometime in October, depending on the availability of the cast (Don't freak out, I'm sure they have contracts and all so as not to delay it too much). The article says they hope to wrap up by January. So word on whether that puts the February release in jeopardy.
