Do you like big sweeping, multi-part epics with lots of blood and fangs? Good, two news bites for you, today.

First off, people think of lots of things when they think Parker Posey. She has been named Queen of the Indies by a number of people, and with good cause. She's an immensely talented actress never afraid to take chances. She's a true practitioner of the craft. Posey has shown up in over forty films within the last ten years. These have included such independent gems as: DAZED AND CONFUSED, PARTY GIRL, THE DAYTRIPPERS, THE HOUSE OF YES, HENRY FOOL (my favorite), BEST OF SHOW, THE ANNIVERSARY PARTY and A MIGHTY WIND just to name a few. Every now and then she'll pop up in a bigtime Hollywood production like JOSIE & THE PUSSYCATS (Hooray!) and SCREAM 3 (Booo!).

Posey has now signed onto one of her more unusual roles in BLADE: TRINITY, the third and final installment in the Wesley Snipes bloodsucker franchise. Posey will be playing a vampire in the film which also stars Snipes, Kris Kristofferson, Jessical Biel (the TEXAS CHAINSAW remake) and Ryan Reynolds (who they say is talented, but I'm not renting VAN WILDER to find out). It is directed by David S. Goyer, who wrote the first two installments. BLADE: TRINITY is currently filming in Vancouver and will be release in the States August 2004.

[I 180w under03-330 I]One vampire trilogy not enough for you? was such a smashing success that Screen Gems has granted two follow-ups. One will be the sequel hinted at in UNDERWORLD and the next will be a prequel.

I would expect Kate Beckinsale to return for both these installments. She is, after all, engaged to the director Les Weisman, who will be directing both installments. The scripts will also be written by Dan McBride, just as the original was.

is boosting confidence in Screen Gems, the genre wing of Sony Entertainment also responsible for RESIDENT EVIL and GHOSTS OF MARS. The film made 23 million bucks in it's first weekend, not bad for September. That also happens to match it's original budget, not including advertising. Hard to believe that film cost about a third of what many productions are running for these days.

An UNDERWORLD trilogy. Guess my comparisons of Les Weisman to the Warshowski brothers aren't so crazy, now are they? Come on, guys. You know who you are. Pay up.

Yes THE HOUSE OF YES is great:

"What the gun doing out?"
"Being gun-like."

And I still never pass up an opportunity to wallow in my admiration of JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS:

"Thally thells theathells by the theathore..."
