Okay, so I belong to the Yahoo! Groups of Seduction Cinema, Darian Caine and Misty Mundae. Is that so wrong? If it is, I don't want to be right.
Seduction Cinema, for those who don't know, is a very profitable subsidiary of E.I. Independent Cinema. These guys have been pushing the independent envelope for a number of years with many notable projects that can be found at . They are best known for a series of softcore films, mostly comedic and horror-laden, with names like , AN EROTIC VAMPIRE IN PARIS, DR. JECKYLL & MISTRESS HYDE, SIN SISTERS, MY VAMPIRE LOVER, the EROTIC WITCH PROJECT trilogy and the upcoming SPIDER-BABE. They have a number of talents that have gained a following, most notably Esmeralda De la Rocca, Julian Wells, Katie Jordan, Darian Caine and Misty Mundae.
Give them credit, they have expanded upon their talent. Caine's fetish for the dark and macabre has blossomed into some interesting projects and Misty Mundae (who shows an amazing amount of charisma and charm) has already begun writing and directing several projects. And now, according to , much of Seduction's cast and crew is expanding beyond the softcore realm.
Terry West (SATAN'S SCHOOL FOR LUST, LORD OF THE G-STRINGS), for instance, is directing Shriek Show's first original horror film, FLESH FOR THE BEAST.
Meanwhile, under the E.I. banner, Brett Piper's (DRAINIAC!, A NYMPHOID BARBARIAN IN DINOSAUR HELL) SCREAMING DEAD is set for release and even seems to be playing in a few theatres before it's March 2004 video debut. This is a heavy-duty horror starring Mundae and SOV alums Rachael Robbins and Heidi Kristoffer.
Mundae, Robbins and Kristoffer will also show up in Piper's horror anthology SHOCK-O-RAMA. That also happens to be the name of E.I.'s straight horror label. As a friend of mine used to say, "How bizarre, how bizarre..." It's a three part anthology, the details of which you can read about at . The film also stars Seduction Cinema's Darian Caine and Julian Wells.
Caine and Wells also team up with Mundae in an untitled film from Piper which will involve a lengthy post-production schedule. "It's the smaller of the two productions, though it'll have bigger effects, because Brett tackles the effects on his own," E.I.'s Michael Raso said. "The cast will be done, but Brett will be doing the stop-motion by himself for a while after that."
Says Raso of the latest horror productions, "It's a combination of '80s horror sensibilities with our Seduction Cinema product. What's exciting about working with Brett is that the types of films he makes, with their classic horror feel, appeal to a more general audience than the typical Seduction Cinema crowd, which some people call 'the raincoat brigade.'" Oh great, now I feel really bad.
The article also mentions the preparations for DVD special editions of the cult faves, CRIMINALLY INSANE, CRAZY FAT ETHEL II and SATAN'S BLACK WEDDING. If you told me that there would one day be a special edition of CRAZY FAT ETHEL II, I would have laughed out loud. Hey, you know what? I still am.
In addition to the previously mentioned , you can also go to the official pages of and . But I warn you, the images on the sites, while not pornographic, are far from G-rated (Especially Darian's site which I can't link to. But I'm sure you can figure out the URL). I mean really, you should see the pics I didn't dare post before finding this innocent pose. So, you should be 18 if you're taking the plunge.
