Has anyone heard any details on the Alien vs. Predator flick? I know they've been kicking this around for years, but...no, please tell me this isn't happening.
Whatever happened to Alien 5? Word was that Sigourney Weaver had signed on for a final installment, to be released on the original's 25th anniversary, that would finally bring the alien to Earth and conclude the story. Has that been shot down in order to cash in on a Freddy vs. Jason move?
I know the original is about to be re-released to theaters (nice; it's the only one I've never seen on the big screen), but what are the details on the future of thie Alien story?
Anyone know? :censored:

There is an ALIEN VS. PREDATOR film currently in the works. It's an on-again/off-again project, but there has been considerable movement this year. The film is currently in preproduction with Paul W.S. Anderson (RESIDENT EVIL, EVENT HORIZON) attached to direct. They may try for a summer 2004 release in the U.S. with a release in the UK in short succession.
As for ALIEN 5, who knows? Weaver has a stake in the exec production deal and for some reason, they don't dare make a move on the non-hybrid franchise without her. She has not expressed much interest in a fifth film, unless they can go to the alien homeworld. There has not been much enthusiasm from her for an earth-based ALIEN film. That's too bad, since that's the one I've been waiting 24 years to see.
There is an ALIEN: DIRECTOR'S CUT coming to theatres this fall, with a beautiful box set of DVDs to follow in both the UK and U.S. All of the films on the discs are extended versions.

For some reason, I didn't post the news that Lance Henriksen has been cast in ALIEN VS. PREDATOR. He plays an industrialist who discovers the battle between the two races. No info on whether this industrialist is the same character he played towars the end of ALIEN 3.
Also, Ridley Scott has been talking to Weaver and 20th Century Fox, both of whom are considering returning to him so he can direct ALIEN 5. But he says talks haven't gotten too serious yet.

Speaking of ALIENS versus PREDATOR, has anyone seen BATMAN: DEAD END?
It's a rather well made live action mini-movie that has BATMAN chasing THE JOKER into an alley. Suddenly, THE JOKER is snatched away by an ALIEN. As you can expect, BATMAN and the monster square off against each other. But then, a PREDATOR shows up and all hell breaks loose.
It may sound stooopid, but it's actually quite fun. You can check it out at the link below...
