There are a lot of complex video games out there with complex characters and engaging storylines. At least that's what they tell me. Truthfully, I don't get past the ARCTIC THUNDER or CRUISIN' machines in the local movie theatre since most games today confuse the hell out of me. I'd rather not display my ignorance any further.
One of these games is SILENT HILL, which have been called the scariest games ever made by many. The film project has been languishing in an on-again, off-again status for a couple years now. But finally, it looks like it's hitting the big screen and with a primo director to boot.
Christophe Gans is best known for the films CRYING FREEMAN (still unreleased in the U.S. for some reason) and BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF. He was working on an adaptation of the underground comic THE ADVENTURERS, a project he now acknowledges is pretty much dead. Now, he brings his lyrical and violent visions to the classic Konami game. Konami issued the press release which also says the software giant will oversee the casting and production of the film very closely.
