We haven't reported much on Lucky McKee's THE WOODS. And that's a big oversight on our part. McKee did the fantastic film, MAY (check out the , courtesy of our newest talent, DevilMan). Yes, it is as good as he says it is. A truly original horror film with some heart-wrecnching drama.

The latest news on THE WOODS (which was also the working title of M. Night Shayamalan's new film, until the SIXTH SENSE helmer had to change it) is that the cast is really coming together. And what cast is this? According to , "Bruce Campbell is signed, sealed and delivered to appear in Lucky McKee's THE WOODS."

We hear about Campell getting cast in a new horror film almost as much as we hear about a big studio remaking an old horror film. But if true, it could mean an overdue career resurgence for our beloved Bruce Campell. McKee's film would follow Campell's stint in the unjustly-delayed BUBBA HO-TEP, which is finally being released this fall.

THE WOODS goes into production this month in Montreal. The screenplay is by David Ross and the film will be released by United Artists.

McKee also has an acting role as the Killer in the upcoming Tobe Hooper remake THE TOOLBOX MURDERS. And does anyone have any news out there about the proposed "male side of MAY" described in July/August issue? The proposed independent film would be directed by Angela Bettis and starring McKee, a reversal of their roles on the MAY set.

Ah, gee, thanks guys.

Here's hoping that THE WOODS turns out to be just as good.
