This movie was freakin awesome!!! It's about this guy who lives with his mom, who is a bee-yatch!!! One day he goes on a date with this woman at the zoo and his mom follows him. While she is spyong on him, she doesn't notice she's standing next to the cage of this fake-looking "rat monkey" that turns people into canaballistic zombie. She gets bitten and squishes the ugly thing. When she gets home she feels ill, so she lays in bed. Well, soon she begins to fall to pieces. Alot of wacky stuff happens in this movie including zombie sex between a half-decapitated nurse and an impaled preacher, a preacher who does karate on the zombies, and many other laugh-out-loud moments. Also people who like gore won't be dissapointed, ther is alot of blood to go around. If you like dark comedies and love a violent movie, then watch this movie.

My favorite scene... STAND ASIDE BOY! EVIL IS AMONG US! I KICK ASS FOR THE LORD!
And the funny thing about it is that I bet that there's plenty of folks probably don't even know that their beloved LORD OF THE RINGS director, PETER JACKSON made this little puppy along with another great demented flick called MEET THE FEEBLES.
By the way, does anyone know for sure if the European DVD release of DEAD ALIVE (titled BRAIN DEAD I believe) has scenes not included in the unrated TRIMARK version. For what it's worth, the TRIMARK DVD has a running time listed as 97 minutes.

Absolutly rocked. I think there are two versions though, one is cut bigtime! If you liked that, you gotta see Bad Taste. But I just LOOOOVE the lawnmower scene, that has got to be the best improvised Zombie slayer of all time :woot:

Oh definitely! I've got two scenes that I'll always remember from the movie...
1. When the zombie gets run over by the truck and split in half. Then the top half of the body picks up a pinecone and throws it at them as they drive off.
2. When he fires the rocket launcher and we get the "Rocket Cam" as it glides into the house, through the rooms, out of the back window, and then slams into the poor unsuspecting cow.
Just wacky stuff!
But man, I wish ANCHOR BAY would get offa their butts and give us a 2-disc DTS widescreen DVD release of MEET THE FEEBLES! I can honestly say, there's NEVER been a movie quite like it ever made. I think it's my favorite PETER JACKSON film. Even better than, dare I say it, LORD OF THE RINGS?!

One of my favorite horror films. I like Peter Jackson's work. Bad Taste was another one of Peter Jackson's films I really liked.

Peter Jackson is an excellent director. My favorite of his work is definitely Dead Alive in all of its wonderful zombie carnage. My least favorite Jackson film would have to be Frighteners if I had to absolutely choose one. I am not saying frighteners is bad--it is a good film. I just prefer Meet the Feebles, Bad Taste, LOTR, and last but not least Heavenly Creatures.

The goriest and most brilliantly hilarious horror movie ever made.
Easily one of the most notoriously gory films ever created, Peter Jackson's 'Brain Dead' - also known as 'Dead Alive' - is a stupid, ugly, trashy, but brilliantly and comically gruesome and revolting film that can only be described as a "splatstick" comedy. It's also one of the funniest films I have ever viewed. The plot, while unbelievable and infinitely silly, is at the same time, excellently structured and, in the end, this film doesn't need a brilliant plot to accomplish what it accomplish. The emphasis is not on storytelling, and it doesn't even need to be, 'Brain Dead' is a brilliant work of disgusting, putrid art no matter what way you choose to look at it.
A lot of people think this film is awful, but that's because they don't get it. It's meant to be awful, it's meant to be stupid, it's meant to make you laugh at how bad it is - that's what Peter Jackson's intent was and what he was trying to do with this film. And it succeeds. Very good film and definitely worth checking out if you believe trash can't be brilliant...oh, and you might want to have a new pair of pants handy.

Dead Alive......The lawn mower scene is the best ever and the main character Lionel, his uncle has a great scene with two meat cleavers, hacking up a big pile of zombie parts. Lionel takes the baby zombie to the park, oh man....This movie has the best special effects.....brilliant
