[I 180w freddyglove I]Since our last update, FREDDY VS. JASON has made history by earning over 36 million bucks in it's first weekend. That's a bigger opening bow than the two titans have ever scored solo. In fact, it's bigger than the total tally of some of their films and is sure to top the box office records of both. That should buy a lot of fake blood for the sequels and follow-ups.

Robert Englund has been chatting up a storm the past few weeks, but what else is new? Hell, I love Robert. I love anyone that shows that much respect and devotion towards the fans. But sometimes, he leaks every last whisper of a rumor and it gets everyone talking, only to be dissapointed when it doesn't happen. But Robert's luck seems to be changing, and we're sure to reap the benefits.

First of all, Englund is pumped for a prequel to A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET tentatively titled ELM STREET: THE FIRST MURDERS. The film would follow the origins of Freddy before he became the undead maniac he is today. This is something briefly touched on in A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3: DREAM WARRIORS and FREDDY'S DEAD: THE FINAL NIGHTMARE. But if the opening moments of FREDDY VS. JASON are any indication, this would likely expand on that and provide an unsettling amount of menace to the child killer once known as "the Springwood Slasher."

"It intrigues me because I'm fascinated by the lives and motivations of serial killers," Englund told the . "Plus, I'd get to do the Freddy movie without the makeup."

Hate to say I told you so. reports that while a FREDDY VS. JASON sequel is still in the cards (count on it), it will not include Bruce Campell as the Deadite-stompin' Ash. When asked about his involvement in an FVJ sequel, Campell responded via e-mail, "If you believe that, I've got some ocean front property outside of Phoenix you might be interested in...". That's our Bruce. Even when he dissapoints, he amuses. It should be noted that questions whether the e-mail was genuine.

On a final note, you can expect a review of FREDDY VS. JASON on Horror Express within the next day or two. But I warn you, it is becoming a mammoth tract, complete with prologue. Hey, no one ever accused me of saying too little. Watch this space for more.
