Australian 1980's Film

I remember seeing a film in the mid to late 1980's (about 1986 or 1987). It started in an Australian primary school and some kidnappers/robbers in masks burst in and tried to take a class hostage. One of the teachers either hepls some children escape or they are taken to an underground cave system (because thet's where they end up). The kids and the teacher end up running about this underground cave avoiding these men.

That's all I remember, other than as a wee kid it scared me shitless.
