Many people who like horror movies are also into intense music that has a 'macabre' effect; so I thought I would name a few pieces for horror fans that your sure to recognize and maybe grow to love.

"In the Hall of the Mountain King" by Edvard Grieg from "Peer Gynt"

"Night on the Bald Mountain" by Modest Mussorgsky

"Ride of the Valkyrie" by Richard Wagner from "Die Walkure"

"Dream of a Witches Sabbath" by Hector Berlioz from "Symphonie Fantastique"

Interesting list Maddux. Some of the old classic music has a power you just cannot touch.

I'll add to that list Orff's CARMINA BURANA.
Another piece I love is Jean Sibelius' FINLANDIA.

I recently stumbled across another work from Orff, the Catulli Carmina. In some ways, it's even darker than his better-known work, but I'm unaware of anyone taking advantage of it for horror purposes.

To add to the list:

-Danse Macabre by Saint-Saens
-Suite Gothique by Leon Boellmann
