As some of you may know, I tend to do a bit of writing for . I guess it would help if I gave their news releases a closer look, wouldn't it?
The site reports that following in the footsteps of CARRIE, HAIRSPRAY! and DEBBIE DOES DALLAS (no, really!), the next cult film to get the musical treatment is... EVIL DEAD!
EVIL DEAD 1 & 2: THE MUSICAL will wisely not involve the events of ARMY OF DARKNESS, presumably because the sets alone would have been a nightmare. The production will premiere on August 14th and will run until the 23rd. If you're in the Toronto area, you might want to head down to the Tranzac Theatre and see what could be the grooviest musical in some time. What are you going to shell out big bucks for another Broadway revival or Andrew Lloyd Webber claptrap?
With it's tongue firmly in cheek, songs in EVIL DEAD 1 & 2: THE MUSICAL include, "Do the Necronomicon," "Look Who's Evil Now," "Bit Part Demon (the Fake Shemp Song) and All the Men in My Life (Keep Getting Killed By Candarian Demons)."
