Hey, if Peter Jackson can tack on a trailer, why can't Danny Boyle tack on a new ending?

Despite being released in the U.S. the same time it was hitting DVD in the UK, 28 DAYS LATER has been a modest little success for Fox Searchlight. So much so, that they've decided what they want besides money... more money. Oh, I'm just kidding, we all know it's a business.

To get people to see the film a second time, or perhaps to interest those who have been putting it off, Fox will include an alternate ending to theatrical prints on 28 DAYS LATER. This is the same alternate ending included on the current UK DVD. Prints will still include Danny Boyle's director's cut and the ending will appear after the closing credits. The new prints hit theatres on July 25th.

Fox Searchlight already has 25 dollars of my money because I bought the DVD which has the alternate ending and commentary. So, I probably won't see it in the theater.

I appreciate the success of 28 Days Later though. It's about time there was a good zombie flick that wasn't cheesy like Resident Evil, etc.

It's a neat idea overall, but I know people will bitch about it especially if they shell out alot of extra cash for the night showing and they expect some kind of "big bang" of an ending, which it isn't.

I think the alternate "storyboard ending" on the R2 PAL DVD was at least more enjoyable because it was sooo different than the original version, ya know.
