As Saylos is a character created largely after the fact, there is really no established canon of which to compare him with Silene (Siren) in a certain sense, but the question is certainly provocative none the less. Devilman's battle with Silene (Siren) was much longer than Amon's with Saylos, but who really would have been stronger? Saylos or Silene (Siren).
Also, Zann was a general of Zenon's (Zannin's) Demon Army, was Silene (Siren) and Saylos of similar rank, or were they beneath even Zann?
Also do we ever see the final end of Zenon (Zannin) and Psycho Jenny (Psychogenie) or are they presumed killed during the twenty years of Devilman's and Satan's war.

I've never seen Amon: Apocalypse of Devilman yet, but I have to say Siren would be stronger. She always is aggressive and determine. As for the rank, they were probably beneath Zann because in the last Devilman vol. 2, Siren was calling for Zenon for help because she did not want to die a shameful death with no victory. Kaimu appears and offers her his body to defeat Devilman.
Do you mean the ending in the Amon ova or the live action movie? I think how it ends when I read in a Devilman fansite, is that Ryo appears before Akira when he was sad that his girlfriend Miki died. Akira walks away knowing that all of this was just to satisfy his desire to keep him alive.

After Akira walks away from Ryo a twenty year war ensues between the two at the end of which, Devilman has been killed by Satan. The Amon OVA simply ends with them walking away before this confict.

Then after that 20 year timeframe, Devilman is reborn as Violence Jack, I believe.
Saylos is much stronger, remember Amon is Akira with ALL his demonic might, while his devilman form is actaully weakened due to his human heart.

I can't say I've ever heard Devilman was reborn as violence jack (P.S., Devilman dies at the end of the twenty year timeframe, then begins Violence Jack) so that's an interesting theory.
All I know is that in the english version of the OVAs, it's implied Devilman actually became stronger than Amon after Akira Fudo took over, but that might just be a liberty taken with the english script writer.

Not literally reborn, but just look at this story line.
The series takes place in a world destroyed by a devastating earthquake in which the remnants of humanity are divided between the strong and the weak in an underground city called Evil Town. Violence Jack is uncovered amongst the rubble and demolished granite by the inhabitants of this city where he is let loose upon them until he finally confronts the most ruthless of all the warlords, the Slum King. Half-man, half-giant; Jack is big, strong and very violent. A muscle-bulging beast of a man with what seems to be an almost immortal warrant, Jack scours the underworld with a kind of David Carradine quality, lending his knuckles to good causes and duly demolishing the skulls of a few genuinely creepy bad guys along the way.
I would say it sounds incredibly similiar to Devilman; I haven't ever seen Violence Jack: despite that, I am aware Jack is just his nickname, his real name is unknown, and he is revealed to be somewhat supernatural.

Weaker, actaully.
He has the potentional to be just as strong as Amon, but his human heart and instincts create limits on how ruthless he can be.

Well I don't think Devilman was seven foot tall, so I doubt they're related beyond that.

I thought that was just Jinmen taunting Devilman in regards to the circumstances of him holding back in not wanting to kill his mother (childhood friend in the manga). Doesn't Siren (Silene) say he's supposedly become more powerful since fusing with Akira Fudo?

I'm not sure; Devilman has several large plot holes like that.

I dunno, while Jinmen mocks Devilman's human limitations in both the english and japanese versions only in the english version does Siren (Silene) say anything of Devilman being stronger. I don't think its so much of a plot hole as it is illustrated that Devilman is unable to fight without the same level of abandonment that Amon can, I think that's about it.
In a nutshell, Devilman is at least as strong as Amon, maybe stronger, maybe not, however it's Devilman's emotions that not only limit his fighting ability but allows him to go above and beyond mere limitations of physical strength in a sense both making him weaker and stronger than Amon.

Untrue; he is not as strong as Amon. His human heart weakens devilman, as he loses to Amon in Amon- Apocalypse of Devilman. It takes lots of motivation and human memories to be able to beat him.

When Devilman and Amon were fighting it was a battle of wills, not an actual fight, pysical strength wasn't the issue, mental strength was. outside of that I don't really see any real conclusive evidence that Amon was the stronger.

Um... Yeah, that was kind of implicit in my response as well. Remember, the only one who claimed anything as a fact one way or another to begin with on the matter was yourself not I.

Don't take it the wrong way, man. I didn't mean to cause any insult.
I hear Go Nagai responds to fan mail. I'll give him a shot at some point.

Lol, sorry. Nah, I'm afraid I'm not much when it comes to the Japanese language nor would I want to trouble the guy over something this trivial. Besides Saylos isn't even really Go Nagai's character so he might not even know. The character Saylos is based on in the Amon: Dark Side of the Devilman manga doesn't even have a name nor is he even a fraction as strong as Saylos in the OVA (guy is decapitated in the blink of the eye). As for Amon vs Devilman, I don't think its really that big a mystery, and if it is vague, it's probably meant to be that way.
