[I 160 bladeII I]David S. Goyer has written the screenplays to both BLADE films, a franchise that not only survived it's first sequel but endured, gaining new followers. With Stephen Norrington out of the loops and Guillermo del Toro busy with other projects including HELLBOY and AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS, finding a director for BLADE III would be hard. Or would it?

Although Oliver Herschbeigel (DAD EXPERIMENT) was attached, things didn't work out. So what better place to turn than within. Yes, Goyer will step behind the director's chair for the third (and possibly final) installment in the vampire asskicker epic, according to . This is not Goyer's first film in the director's chair. He recently made the jump with the new film, ZIGZAG, a drama featuring BLADE star Wesley Snipes, as well as John Leguizamo, Oliver Platt and the woefully underrated Natasha Lyonne.

BLADE III begins production this summer, around the same time the Goyer-scripted FREDDY VS. JASON hits theatres. Hmmm, Goyer wrote the script? Actually makes me somewhat optimistic about that one.
