[I 160w news-183 I]We've been covering 20th Century Fox's re-release of ALIEN for some time now. , we told of the initial re-release. , we talked about the upcoming ALIEN QUADRILOGY DVD (And why aren't they just calling it the ALIEN QUARTET?).
Now, has more news about that initial re-release. Fox is going full tilt boogie on this one, releasing it to over 2000 screens in the U.S. and digitally remastering the soundtrack for optimal theatrical sound.
But the big news? says, "the film will be getting most, if not all, of the cut footage restored back into the narrative." This will no doubt lead to some controversy. The deleted footage on the DVD and laserdisc releases has been a fan favorite, but how will they react to it's placement in the finished film? Personally, I can't wait to see how it looks.
ALIEN will be re-released this October. If it is a success, James Cameron's ALIENS DIRECTOR'S CUT may also get a theatrical release.
