[I 140w dogsoldiers I]More details have popped up about the controversial DOG SOLDIERS sequel and the news seems to back up the direction the film was taking in .
DOG SOLDIERS: FRESH MEAT is the official working title of the sequel. The film will pick up right after the original, but no one is saying anything else right now. Our always dependable friends at got the scoop from producer David Allen himself.
Although the original DOG SOLDIERS was a box office smash in Europe, it never even saw the inside of a movie theatre in America. That's something Allen hopes to change. "It is still being made as a theatrical film," Allen said. "We did sell the first film around the world theatrically, but of course, America did not think that America wanted to see another British film. We will have a bigger budget and be shooting in Luxembourg again. We hope to get the studios here interested in showing it theatrically."
Allen stated again that there would be more American cast members, echoing the sentiments of the that the U.S. felt the film was too British. The idea of trying to get this one into U.S. theatres could be more motivation in that direction.
He says if the original does well enough, they will follow up with a prequel, much like GINGER SNAPS follow-ups that are currently being filmed.
