First it's de La Iglesia, then it's Fantastic Factory, now this. Filmfax, the same company producing Jaume Balagueró's FRAGILE and Brad Anderson's SESSION 9 follow-up, THE MACHINIST, haven't even begun to explore the potential of horror.
reports that Filmfax are creating a series of 12 TV movies in the horror genre. The TV movie thing isn't big in itself, the sheer number of them is. But that's nothing compared to who's coming on board. Alex de La Iglesia (ACCION MUTANTE, DAY OF THE BEAST), Jaume Balaguero (THE NAMELESS) and Matteo Gil (NADIE CONOCE A NADIE, a great film I reviewed for ).
One film will also be helmed by Ibañez Serrador, who is overseeing all 12 films. Serrador helmed the 1976 film WHO COULD KILL A CHILD? This is a film that predated CHILDREN OF THE CORN and was about ten times as terrifying. It was a truly haunting masterpiece and in it's uncut form, had some disturbing things to say about the direction the world was headed towards (Er, a DVD would be nice, btw).
The first six films are being written right now. Horror Express will keep you updated on any news on international distribution.
