[I 180w ladiesnight I]"If you could make an arrest for bad temper, thought Lederer, this whole damn city would be on Riker's Island." So begins Jack Ketchum's book, LADIES NIGHT. Ketchum has been thrilling horror readers for years with his tails of terror, loss and extreme violence. Some of his more famous books include THE GIRL NEXT DOOR (just try to find a cheap copy), OFF SEASON and THE LOST. The back cover describes LADIES as a "modern tale of the age-old battle of the sexes carried to the extreme."
Extreme seems to be a recurring theme here. So, Stuart Gordon may be the man to handle some of this. After all, this is the man who married a slick sense of humor with the terrifying tales of H.P. Lovecraft (see JohnShaft's review). Thankfully, Gordon has been busy lately. is close to becoming a modern cult classic. His upcoming hitman drama, KING OF THE ANTS (lovingly covered in ) sounds quite intense. Now, Gordon tells that he hopes to begin production on LADIES NIGHT by the end of the year.
Here's how Gordon describes the script: "The story takes place in New York City, where a tanker truck crashes and spills a toxic chemical that only affects women. At first, the women become sexually aroused, and then they become incredibly violent and attack and kill all the men. Like the novel, the movie will unfold in a 24-hour period."
"LADIES NIGHT is the most horrific script I've ever worked on," Gordon said. And it that doesn't whet your appetite, nothing will.
